State Capitol

The California State Capitol is located in Sacramento, California at the west end of Capitol Park. The building serves as both a museum and the state’s working seat of government. Visitors to the Capitol can experience California’s rich history and witness the making of history through the modern lawmaking process. Public tours are conducted daily*.

Getting There
For southbound San Joaquin passengers - while on the train, ask your conductor for a FREE Transit Transfer Pass. Once you arrive at the Sacramento Station, just transfer to Light Rail (your Free Transit Transfer Pass is your ticket). Take the light rail to Archives Plaza (about a 5 minute ride). For northbound San Joaquin passengers - you'll transfer at Stockton to Amtrak Bus Route 3 for direct service to the Capitol.
**Amtrak Thruway Bus service to the State Capitol is only available on northbound trains with Thruway service from Stockton. The bus will drop passengers off right at the Capitol. However, return service to southbound trains (via Thruway bus) is from the Sacramento Amtrak train station.
