Amtrak California Cancels Thruway Bus Service to Medford and Ashland, Oregon

Sacramento, Calif. – Effective Oct. 25, Amtrak California will end direct Thruway bus service between Redding, California and Ashland and Medford, Oregon. At this time, Amtrak California Thruway bus services to Dunsmuir, Mt. Shasta, Weed, and Yreka will also be discontinued.

Beginning Oct. 26, 2009, California passengers traveling to Ashland and Medford will be able to do so by taking Amtrak’s Coast Starlight train service from Sacramento, California to Klamath Falls, Oregon, and then continuing on a SouthWest Point bus service, sponsored by the Oregon Department of Transportation. Passengers arriving to or departing from the Amtrak station in Klamath Falls can continue to reach many other California destinations, either direct or via a connection, by taking Amtrak's Coast Starlight train. Direct train service to Dunsmuir, California continues to be offered by the Coast Starlight.
