Amtrak Airport Access

Airport Connectivity -- More Than Just a Concept

Trying to get TO an airport to make an interstate, transcontinental, or international flight? Trying to get FROM an airport to your actual destination? It's not too difficult if you've got your own car, but half the time (at least) your car is at the other end of the trip! -If you live outside of a major population center, or you don't have a car at your disposal at both ends of the trip, or if you're traveling on business to a new place, the flight may be the simplest part of the trip. (And that may not be the best news you've had all day.)

Much better news is that while transportation coordination between various public transportation providers has always been problematical, in recent times, local transit providers and Amtrak have begun to join with airport authorities in both formal and informal ways to make the link between air and ground transportation a little easier and more convenient. This page identifies the major airports in California and shows how to connect to them using Amtrak services.

Note that this page does NOT contain information about private shuttle companies, as they generally do not provide scheduled service.

If you want airport access information for places outside of California anywhere in the world, check out this site: <http://www.toandfromtheairport.com>. The author is an airline pilot (a Brit from his spelling) who's apparently been there and done that!

This information was compiled from a number of different sources. At the time of this writing -- check the date above -- the information was accurate. But note that details of local public or private transit -- stop locations, schedules, and particularly fares -- may change at almost any time -- and are not under the control or authority of Amtrak or Caltrans. For those reasons, you should check that these connections are valid for the trip you plan to take. If you should find out that the information here is no longer current, please notify your webmaster ASAP. Thanks in advance.
