Efffective May 21, 2007, one round trip each day of Amtrak California Motor Coach service operating to/from the San Joaquin trains in Bakersfield stops in Indio, before continuing on to Brawley, El Centro and Calexico. The buses make stops in Palm Desert and Palm Springs, Beaumont, and San Bernardino on their way to and from the San Joaquin trains in Bakersfield.
There are no Amtrak personnel at the Indio stop. For this reason, there is no checked baggage service nor package express to Indio. The nearest staffed Amtrak stations are in Los Angeles or Yuma, Arizona. Employees of Downey Savings should not be expected to know the details of Amtrak bus arrivals and departures. Call 1-800-USA-RAIL for bus arrival/departure information.
Amtrak California's San Joaquin and its connecting buses are reserved; ticketing in advance is required.
